Directs and coordinates the operation of the maintenance department, including determination of needed repairs and improvements. Establishes project priorities, schedules/assigns work tasks, supervises plant operations staff through training, development, monitoring and evaluating staff work performance. Monitors work order completion and maintains equipment in preventive maintenance programs, keeping appropriate documentation for standards and codes of regulatory agencies such as CMS, state and TJC. Will be responsible for budgetary responsibilities within the department.
Manager appropriately assigns and reviews all work done by maintenance staff, providing direction as needed. Communicates department goals and adjusts work activities to accomplish departmental goals. Provides timely feedback and evaluations to staff, promoting their growth and development. Ensures department is properly staffed and flexes as appropriate to work volume.
Manager makes every effort to maintain good departmental and interdepartmental relations by providing service excellence and support to management through open, honest, timely communication. Keeps Director informed of appropriate departmental issues, status updates and complications of maintenance repair issues.
Manager oversees all assigned in-house construction and maintenance work where outside contractors are providing needed services, keeping leadership informed of status. Will work with other department leaderhsip, architects, engineers, agency inspectors, etc. with regards to building, equipment, systems and licensing requirements.
Manager participates on committees as needed by the hospital along with working as a resource for other committee members in regards to facilities building and equipment (i.e. Safety Committee). Will be responsible for performing inspections of buildings, grounds, etc. to ensure conformance with established standards and regulations. Establishes preventive maintenance schedule along with prioritizing maintenance work and repairs with minimal disruption to daily hospital operations. Will maintain all department records, reports and regulatory files as required.
Will be responsible for developing and maintaining inventory of needed parts, materials and tools while working within budgetary guidelines Shortages will be reported to the director.
Qualifications:
Because you're committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That's why you'll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent along with 2 years technical school in one of the following areas: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.
Experience: Must have 2 years experience with equipment systems including boiler steam, low pressure refrigeration and medical gas systems. Must also have 2 years experience as team leader or project leader involving equipment systems such as HVAC design, steam system operations, etc.
Other: Must possess skills and abilities to lead others through stressful situations such as equipment failures and repairs related to hospital operations. Must also have communication skills to effectively keep staff/leadership apprised of maintenance issues and repair status.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
