Couriers will provide an outstanding meal service for Mercy patients/family members by providing a nurturing and restorative care to our patients as well as a nourshing morale for patients, family members that coincide with the Mercy values, mission and vision.
While providing outstanding customer serve, they will verbally speak to patients and/or family members the menu that is being offered that day and to obtain what the patient would like for Breakfast, lunch and dinner in accordance with the patient's diet.
Assist in assembling and seeing that patient trays are accurate, appealing, and pleasing to look at.
Correctly and by using the two patient identifiers deliver that patient their meals.
To pick up trays and record the fluid intake and meal consumption after each meal. Taking the trays back to the dish room for cleaning. Assisting if needed.
Provide Guest trays to patient family members when requested and obtain payment for the tray upon delivery unless it is a caregiver tray, those meals are covered.
Couriers will put together the HS nourishment and deliver them to the appropriate nursing floors nourishment/pantries room.
Couriers will inventory, assemble and distribute floor stock to the designated nursing nourishment/pantries. Also, they will ensure all disposable items are appropriately labeled, dated with expirations. Clean and sanitize the nourishment/pantries.
Couriers are requested to attend all in-service training meetings as well as Gemba meetings.
Couriers are to communicate, document all meal related problems to the Diet Office.
Couriers are to follow all rules and regulations governing the protection of our patients, HIPPA. Couriers are to know and understand completely HIPPA and see that they take the course on My Education that will appear every 6 months.
Follow all Mercy polices and procedures as well as all other regulatory Federal, State and Local agencies. Including, but not limited to Mercy clothing/dress codes, universal precautions, PPE usage.
Seeing that the Courier area of the kitchen is kept clean and sanitized as well as properly stocked and ready for each day.
Couriers from time to time maybe assigned to other duties as assigned by the Leads and/or the Director of Nutrition Services in order to but not limited to being consistent with our Mission, Values and Mercy Service Standards.
Because you're committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That's why you'll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:
Education: High School/GED
Other: Excellent interpersonal skills, speak and read English
Preferred Experience: 2 - 3 years Food Service Healthcare experience preferred

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
