Accounting Supervisor


Leggett & Platt is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to join our corporate accounting team in Carthage, MO. This position will be responsible for coordinating financial reports and analyzing results to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP).



  • Day-to-day contact with corporate and division accounting staff, operating managers, and other corporate departments

  • Supervise professional accounting staff, provide feedback, assess performance, and provide guidance and assistance as needed

  • Manage the consolidated month end close process, ensuring that all deadlines are met

  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions in accordance with US GAAP and company policies

  • Review transactions and reconciliations for accuracy

  • Work cross-functionally with other groups to navigate unique accounting situations and recommend practical solutions

  • Ensure compliance with SOX; ensure all internal controls are consistently implemented and followed

  • Assist with special projects as needed



  • Master's degree in Accounting, MBA or CMA/CPA

  • Eight years of accounting experience


Desired Skillset:

  • Previous supervisory experience

  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills

  • Strong oral and written communication capabilities

  • Strong computer skills with demonstrated strength in Excel

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
